From weathered shingle walls to a sleek matte Monument finish, with a fresh Kliplok roof in Surfmist

Our team at POC Plumbing & Roofing recently completed a full exterior upgrade on a Yowie Bay home, and the result is a big step up from the original look. Here’s a closer look at the project.

The Brief

The home’s timber shingle wall cladding had aged and weathered, as it tends to in Sutherland Shire’s mix of coastal air, humidity and bushland moisture. The owners wanted something modern and low maintenance that would still suit the leafy, waterside character of Yowie Bay.

The Walls: Shingle to Matte Monument Standing Seam

We stripped back the old shingle cladding and replaced it with standing seam wall cladding in Colorbond Matt Monument. It’s a deep, charcoal-toned finish with a soft, non-reflective look that sits well against the surrounding bushland.

Why standing seam on walls?

  • Clean, contemporary lines. The crisp vertical ribs give the home a sharp, architectural look.
  • Low maintenance. There’s no re-staining or replacing weathered shingles. Colorbond steel is built for Australian conditions.
  • Durability. The concealed fixings and quality finish are designed to handle sun, salt air and heavy rain.
  • A modern matte look. The Matt finish reduces glare and gives the exterior a refined, understated feel.

The Roof: Kliplok in Surfmist

On top, we installed a new Kliplok roof in Colorbond Surfmist. Kliplok is a popular concealed-fix profile known for its wide pans and clean look, and it performs well on low-pitch roofs, which makes it a great fit for many Sydney homes.

Surfmist is a light, crisp colour that helps reflect heat, so it’s a smart choice for keeping the home cooler through summer. Against the dark Monument walls, it makes a striking contrast.

The Result

The finished home has a bold two-tone look: dark matte walls under a bright, light roof. It’s a long way from where it started, and the new cladding and roofing should keep the home protected and looking sharp for years to come.
